Emotion Coaching
Emotion Coaching Training Taught in a Workshop Setting
We offer workshops for any group that interacts with children and teens, including parents, grandparents, foster parents, teachers, coaches, youth ministers and mentors.
This workshop is also ideal for organizations that want to ‘Train the Trainer” in Emotion Coaching skills so the information can be disseminated to their staff.
What Is Emotion Coaching?
Everyone wants to do the best job possible when raising or working with a child or teen, but often this feels overwhelming. Decades of research has taught us that building Emotional Intelligence in children is the key to their social and emotional development, which can have tremendous benefits both now and into adulthood. Caring adults can help children understand their emotions by learning Emotion Coaching Skills. This means they help the child or teen to recognize what they are feeling and why. The benefit is that kids learn to manage their feelings and regulate their behavior in a positive way. Emotion Coaching also helps children to navigate social relationships, maximizes their academic performance and helps them develop confidence.

How Does Emotion Coaching Work?
John Gottman’s research on relationships, families and parenting styles provides a foundation for the tools children need to help them be successful in life. The Emotion Coaching skills learned are the key to creating respectful, emotionally healthy, and successful kids. It all boils down to the ways you connect with kids, and the quality of your communication. Positive outcomes are seen when caring adults begin to communicate more effectively with kids, no matter how old they are . . . it is never too late. Developing emotional intelligence is a lifelong journey and tends to lead towards happy, productive, and self-managed lives as adults.
